About Us

The Company
Plexinate resin was developed for the composites (GRP, fiberglass) industry as a result of a privately funded research effort to determine whether superior quality thermosetting composite resins could be made utilising polyurethane chemistry. Years of testing verified that superior strength, chemical resistance, and UV resistance is obtained with this chemistry.

Plexinate is a privately owned by a group of New Zealand and US investors. We have manufacturing operations in South Carolina, USA and Auckland, New Zealand.

Chemistry
Highly branched, chemically resistant polyurethane resin is rendered vinyl functional and dissolved in styrene. The resulting products are simply cured via cobalt/ peroxide, BPO/ DMA or elevated temperature initiators by the composites fabricator.
Plexinate is compatible with conventional glass sizing and requires no changes to common fabricating equipment to use.

Applications
Plexinate polyurethane can be used in place of unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy for all manner of fiberglass applications. I.e. hand lay up or spray up for boats, chemical resistant plant and equipment, sporting goods, pultrusion, RTM, filament winding etc.
